Two pairs of hands for Lewes homes

When the van cannot park right outside, every item gets carried further. On a long carry, a second mover is the difference between a steady day and a dropped wardrobe. Tell us in the form if the van will park away from your door, so your quote allows for it.

Clearing out at Ham Lane

East Sussex County Council says the Lewes household waste recycling site on Ham Lane (BN7 3PS) is open 9am to 4pm every day, and you must book in advance. Vans can only visit on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, and trailers must be no longer than 1.8 metres. A couple of booked car runs in the fortnight before your move means fewer boxes on the day.

Parking the van in Lewes

Lewes is in East Sussex, so parking suspensions go to East Sussex County Council. The council's residential rate, which covers moving house, is £16 set-up per 5.5 metre bay plus £2.25 per bay per day. Unauthorised vehicles parked in a suspended bay can be given a penalty charge notice.
